Mac DeMarco @ Bumbershoot 2014

Bumbershoot, Seattle’s annual music and art festival, took place last weekend with tons of exciting acts. Starting off the 3-day festival, and the highlight for me, was Mac DeMarco’s appearance.

The show was amazing to say the least. We got to hear songs from the new album, ‘Salad Days’, along with songs from both 2 and Rock and Roll Night Club. The group made many light-hearted jokes about their former guitarist, Peter, no longer being in the band which gave a great introduction to their new guitarist, Andy White, who seems to work just as wonderfully with the group.

Mac came out near the end of the show and crowd-surfed for a little while, while being chased by fans desperately trying to get to touch him. During their cover of “Jammin”, he called up a member of the audience and performed it with him.

Overall the show was a fantastic showcase of the musical ability of these guys. It was fun, well-done and always exciting. Of course for me and my friends, the best part was getting to meet him after the show, where he was a sweetheart and goofball just as expected.
