Austin Psych Fest 2015

A photo diary of Austin Psych Fest 2015 from May 8-10.

Day 1:
Ringo Deathstarr performing at the Reverberation Stage.
The sun peaking at the end of The Holydrug Couple’s set.
Night falls. The crowd surges back to the main stage for DIIV, Spiritualized and Tame Impala.

Day 2:
An interactive experience at “the Art of Oliver Hibert and Friends”.
Stylish girls watching L.A. Witch play at Elevation Amphitheater.
Fever the Ghost dazzling the crowd in the Levitation Tent.
Backstage with Chui Wan (CHN) after their North American Debut at the festival.
Thee Oh Sees caused quite a stir in front of the main stage.
Two legendary Creation Records acts, Primal Scream & The Jesus and Mary Chain, then took over the night.
Bobby Gillespie, dressed in a dazzling leopard print blazer, sang his way all across the stage and the crowd clapped along.
JAMC performed a few classic tunes before jumping into an entire set of Psychocandy, celebrating this debut album’s 30th year anniversary.

Day 3:
Beautiful people, watching The Goastt and Mac Demarco.
At the end of their performance, Nothing threw their guitar off stage.
“I HATE YOU” but everybody loves Nothing.
Fat White Family took the stage. “Don’t mess with Texas”, as written on Saul’s t-shirt before he took it off. The crowd kept moshing, and Lias fell off from the stage at the end. The very typical “fat whites”.
It was a beautiful Sunday night. The 13th Floor Elevators did their first show in 50 years! Chelsea Wolfe, A Place To Bury Strangers, The Flaming Lips, and Fuzz later on wrapped up this year’s “Psycho Fest” (suggested Ty Segall, our thought leader, and also, “Don’t take the brown acid, and drink water!”)
Oh right, and we also need to thank the security guy who threw us that giant mysterious orange balloon that came out from nowhere. It made our lives better.

At the end, I simply couldn’t find the exact words to recreate this most wonderful experience for you. But to quote Spacemen 3: “If Heaven's like this, then that's the place for me.”

*Just a side note, if you are looking for the good stuff, always go check the most beautiful oak tree under the sunset. (Keyword: the swing!)
